Jet Aviation – Teterboro Airport, NJ (Phase 1 & 2)
311 kW Solar-Integrated Roof
Overview
Pfister Energy installed a series of solar photovoltaic systems in excess of 311 kW Uni-Solar panels for Jet Aviation (a subsidiary of General Dynamics Corporation) at New Jersey's Teterboro Airport. The project was implemented using Velcro to secure the solar photovoltaic modules to the standing seam metal roof, thereby making it a very unique solar application. The solar projects were installed across four distinct hangar buildings at no cost to the customer through a Power Purchase Agreement. Under this arrangement, the solar systems are owned by third parties, which sell the electricity produced by the array to the project host at a cheaper price (and at a fixed escalation) as compared with what they currently pay for local utility power. The end result is significant energy savings and favorable public relations, with no up-front capital expenditure. Construction on three additional systems comprising a rated aggregate capacity of 700 kW for Jet Aviation is currently underway.
