In 200 B.C.,
people in China
and the Middle
East used
windmills to
pump water and
grind grain.
The first modern wind
turbine was built in
Vermont in the early
1940s.
Wind farms currently
produce enough
electricity to meet the
needs of more than
600,000 families in the
United States.
The largest wind turbine
in the world, located in
Hawaii, stands 20
stories tall and has
blades the length of a
football field.
An average wind speed of
14 miles per hour is
needed to convert wind
energy into electricity.

One wind turbine can produce

What's New @ Pfister Energy |
Pfister
Energy has recently started a
new daylighting project for Kids
Preferred located at 81 Twins
Drive, East Windsor, New Jersey.
Pfister Energy will improve Kids
Preferred's lighting system by
replacing several of its
existing skylights with the
Solar Tracking Skylights daylighting
system, providing grid-free
natural daylighting at no
energy cost to Kids Preferred.
The daylighting system is an
energy-saving array of
through-the-roof luminaries,
which collects sunlight through
prismatic rooftop lenses and
directs and distributes it
downward into the interior space
of the building as cool
comfortable light via mirrors
and a solar tracking system.
The "Ultimate Light Source" is
the principal concept behind
understanding and applying
daylight lighting designs.
Daylighting is the "Ultimate"
light source compared to all
other light sources. Its visual
spectrum, visual comfort, and
even health benefits cannot be
matched. In addition, daylight
as a replacement power source
for conventional electrical
energy can save facilities up to
50-80% of their present direct
electrical needs for existing
lighting systems.
The
Tracking Skylight brings
well-diffused UV inhibited light
through an insulated light well
that is highly reflective (95
percent) and distributes the
light into the interior space
through the diffuser lens. The
integrated lighting system
creates a cool diffused light
that covers more than five to
ten times the area of a
conventional skylight.
The
daylighting system is not
just a lighting system, but
also a significant business
tool that provides a
combination of improved
lighting and
substantial operational
savings. Unlike costly
electrical energy, the
daylighting technology uses
a no-cost energy source --
daylight!

Consumer
Smarts: Calls go out to stop phone
book waste |
The volume
of paper junk mail sent each
year in the USA is staggering.
-
The average person gets
1 personal letter each
week, and 11 pieces of
junk mail.
-
44% of all junk mail is
thrown in the trash,
unopened and unread.
-
Each person will receive
almost 560 pieces of
junk mail this
year--that's 4.5
million tons of junk
mail produced each year!
-
Approximately 40% of the
solid waste in landfills
is paper and paperboard
waste; by the year 2010,
it is predicted to make
up about 48%.
-
100 million trees
are ground up each year
to produce junk mail.
The world's forests (and the
critters that live in them) are
feeling the strain. According
to World Watch Institute, 80%
of all natural forests in the
world have vanished, at the same
time that up to 50% of all
landfill waste is wood and
paper. Junk mail transforms
standing forests into landfill
waste. Even if you recycle junk
mail, there are still huge
environmental costs such as ink,
the energy to produce and
deliver it, and forest loss.
With just a few minutes of your
time, you can immediately take
the following actions to
dramatically reduce the junk
mail you receive, and thereby
reduce your impact on the earth.

N.J. Clean Energy Conference-
September 2007 |
The
2007 Clean Energy Conference &
Leadership Awards was held at
the New Brunswick Hyatt Regency
on September 27 and 28, 2007.
Some of the major themes of this
year's Clean Energy Conference &
Leadership Awards was
information related to global
warming, climate change
solutions, and energy efficiency
technologies.
The event was successful and
well attended. Pfister Energy
as the Platinum sponsor of the
event, was asked to speak at the
awards luncheon. Our very own
CEO, Dieter Pfisterer, gave an
entertaining speech about the
importance of energy efficiency
and the emergence of renewable
technologies.
Pfister Energy hosted a
reception after the conference
on Friday evening which was also
a success. We would like to
thank everyone who attended both
the conference and the cocktail
party. It was spectacular to
meet everyone and we sincerely
hope you had a great time. We
look forward to attending the
conference again next year.
Please
feel free to share your story
about the event with us. We
welcome all feedback. Just send
us an email at emacko@pfisterenergy.com
or call 1-800-367-2207 ext. 41.

Solar Nation Action Alert: Future
of Solar In Balance |
Important
things are going on in
Congress!
The final 2007 Energy Bill is
taking shape right now in
Washington D.C., with House and
Senate conferees negotiating
what laws and regulations will
stay in the final package.
It's vital that the bill contain
adequate provisions for solar
energy. If properly written, it
will allow many more Americans
to be able to afford solar
power, and will give an
essential boost to the solar
industry here.
Take action to tell your
legislators how important this
is to the country.
The more voices we have, the
more they will listen!
Please send an email to
your legislators,
asking them to insist that
strong solar incentives stay in
the energy bill. It's that
important.
