66.512 kW Solar-Integrated Roof
Overview
Pfister Energy of Baltimore, LLC teamed up with Kinsley Construction to install a solar-integrated roofing system on a 200-year-old building, adjacent to the Baltimore Ravens Stadium. The project incorporated several renewable energy technologies. Pfister Energy replaced the existing roof with a premium Firestone two-ply modified bitumen roofing system to create a watertight barrier for the life of the solar system (25+ years). Following that, Pfister Energy installed a 66.512 thin-film solar array that fully adhered to the roof membrane (62.832 kW Uni-Solar PV and 3.680 kW of Trina Solar PV). The remainder of the roof was coated with white elastomeric to reduce heat transfer into the building, thus achieving a solar integrated roofing system. The new roof is expected to produce 76,954 kWh per year and more than 1.7 million kWh over a 25-year period, which will significantly reduce electric costs.
